Transitions are natural, an expected part of life. But that doesn’t mean it’s easy. There’s no field guide to transitions and every child experiences the process differently. Dr. Jennie Ozan, PsyD and Leigh Rzepecki, LCSW, CADC had an open dialogue with GBN High School parents about what transition might look like for their teen and how to support them. Some teens thrive on change but most experience some level of discomfort around transitions. And some teens really struggle when adjusting to new situations. Therapists Dr. Ozan and Mrs. Rzepecki discussed six specific things parents can do to ease the challenges of a transitions, ways to get teens to open up, offer support, and recognize when a teen is struggling and needs help.
