DEPRESSION & BIPOLAR DISORDER BILL OF RIGHTS

RD’s Personal Bill of Rights for Living with Depression & Bipolar Disorder

I have the right to be sad when I’m sad.
I have the right to be happy when I’m happy.
I have the right to feel lonely.
I have the right to be unsure of how I feel.
I have the right to say that I hurt.
I have the right to ask for help.
I have the right to be loved.

I do not have the right to hurt my family.
I do not have the right to hurt myself.
I do not have the right to hurt others.
I do not have the right to give up.
I do not have the right to assume that no one cares.
I do not have the right to equate who I am with what this illness is.
