Take a Stand | Green Hat Walk
for Mental Health Equality

Rebecca’s Dream and Mental Health Association of Greater Chicago have partnered to engage people everywhere to TAKE A STAND and help us:

  • Erase the stigma and bring equality to mental health awareness
  • Spread the message that mental illness is a real disease
  • Eradicate and educate on issues surrounding suicide

Why We Walk?

We believe public awareness and action is needed. Join us in our walk to bridge the gap in mental health services: Parents and schools do what they can with what they have. But even so, here’s the sad truth:

  • Social media has created tremendous new pressures on kids, every waking hour of the year.
  • Some kids have additional stresses of poverty, bullying, and mental health challenges.
As a result, kids right in our community are committing suicide to escape their situation. We want them to know there’s a way out! They can get help. We need your help to reach more kids–before it’s too late.

Featuring:

Xavier Fulton, a Canadian football offensive tackle. He was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2009 NFL draft. Xavier will share his inspirational story about living with anxiety and depression as well as the challenges of athletic traumatic brain injuries.
